NYC Statue of Liberty Aug 2022

We visited the Statue of Liberty and it was a visual feast and a bit drizzly towards the end! Nick and Wyatt were surprised it wasn't bigger based on what they have seen in movies. They have a new museum that took things from inside the pedestal and put it in one spot in a museum. It opened in 2019 so I hadn't seen it before! I like how they showed the pieces in the museum. There was so much more light and it was easier to see and interact with them!

I asked the park Ranger Pheona about her memories. She shared her  brave climb to the top of the torch and how she couldn't stand up because she was so afraid and she felt the sway a couple inches either way. She described the climb down the ladder in the dark and also felt the swaying! She said once was enough! She took a nice photo of us and we got a picture of her too!

I also made sure to get to the front of the statue for a pic this time. Last time I visited with Corinne Valentine we spent our time climbing the pedestal and forgot to walk to the front! The skyline was beautiful. It was drizzling just a bit and we got nice and wet. It was a bit chilly in the rain.

One thing I find incredible is that the celebration of the Statue of Liberty excluded women who had to watch from the NYC shore. We have come a long way baby!

Love this view

This statute of Liberty is without trademark and the image is available for anyone to use
