Sarah Allen and I took a quick post Thanksgiving road trip to a Sioux Falls South and Fargo North Dakota. She had never been. I had never driven there. I taught classes in both cities separately but had flown in. We started our trip with a stop recommended by Atlas Obscura. The Elkhorn, IA windmill! We climbed inside and the stairs were narrow and steep! The windmill lead us to this amazing gem! The Hans Christian Andersen sculpture garden and Little Mermaid statue! This is the cutest place!! A holly holly dry mermaid! There were several statues from Hans Christian Andersen's fairly tales. The little mermaid is my favorite for sure. I love this one too! The princess and the pea! Look at the detail on the statues! This is another favorite story! I tried to get this from several angles! Silly nearly naked Emperor! Those tricky tailors!! I need to read this one again!!
